Things I Wish I Knew During the Convocation Part One
July 26, 2022 /
Yippee! You have made it to Milwaukee and the convocation. What’s next? Here are some helpful hints for a stress-free experience at the convocation.
Registration
- Registration is from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Wisconsin Center and is on the mezzanine level.
- Find the kiosk with the first letter of your last name. There you will receive your name tag, convocation booklet, and bag. Be sure to wear your name tag throughout the convention, as you will need it to enter events, sectionals, and the Thursday banquet.
- If you have registration issues, help is available on site. Go to the Registration Help Desk, where someone will assist you. You can also find assistance there if you have problems with hotel reservations.
- Did you know the number one issue with registration is not having paid your registration fee? So, if you haven’t paid, go directly to the Help Desk.
- What’s the number two issue? Not having registered to attend the convocation.
- If you haven’t already downloaded the app for the convocation or have questions regarding it, there will be someone at the registration site to help set you up.
- If you have never attended an LEA Convocation, look for the First Timers table where you can get additional information and support (and a welcome gift).
Exhibit Hall
- Your convocation experience will include two days with over 100 vendors with resources and services to support your ministry. The Exhibit Hall has always been a fun place to spend some time on both Thursday and Friday. In addition to exhibitors, you may enjoy time in the STEM Playground, where you will learn about the latest tech items available for your school.
- The Exhibit Hall is the location of the receptions on Thursday and Friday nights. Make sure you stop by after your sectionals and before 6:30 p.m.
Get to Know LEA
- Looking for free popcorn? Need a place to charge your phone? Wanting to take a selfie or group photo? Need a place to rest your feet? You can find this and much more in the LEA Central area in the Exhibit Hall. Here, you can learn about all the resources LEA provides to its members to enhance your ministries. It’s also a place to meet some of your LEA staff and its fantastic volunteers.
There is much more to say, but it can be covered next week. Look for Part 2 of What I Wish I Knew During the Convocation next Tuesday!
