Things I Wish I Knew During the Convocation Part Two

You’ve made it through registration and seen the exhibit hall. What else do you need to know?

Plenary

  • Meeting under the theme TOGETHER, Thursday afternoon will have an Opening Event focusing on how we are “Called and Called Together.”
  • On Friday, we will continue the TOGETHER theme centering on the idea of “Broken and Held Together by Christ” Scott Hamilton will be a featured speaker.
  • TOGETHER Saturday will be a threefold event–a brunch, our closing event, and sending worship are based on how we are “Better Together.”
  • Each Plenary session has open seating.

Sectionals

  • All Thursday and Saturday sectionals are in the Wisconsin Center.
  • Friday sectionals are in the Wisconsin Center and the Hilton Milwaukee City Center.
  • A listing of where each sectional is located and maps of locations will be on the app and in the convention book.
  • After each sectional, you can fill out an evaluation on the app.
  • If you need a form that shows you attended the convocation and its sectionals, you’ll find one on the last page of the convocation book.

Thursday Night’s Banquet

  • Thursday night’s Banquet will feature The Skit Guys as we focus on “Uniquely You, Uniquely Together.”
  • This is the only event with assigned seating! Tables will be set for ten people.
  • During registration, there are three options
    • Registering as a group and you were the group leader
    • Registering as part of a group, and you listed someone else as the group leader.
    • Registering as a “single,” not part of a group.
  • Your table assignment will be based upon your response to that registration option.
  • If you registered someone as “New Kindergarten Teacher” or another type of placeholder, the group leader needs to add the new person’s name to the list when you know it. (That person needs to register as well.)
  • Everyone listed as part of a group will be seated together. Depending on the size of the group, you may be assigned two-three tables or split between two tables.
  • If you are split between two tables, you can move people in your group between tables. However, please do not use more table seats than assigned to your group. If you take more seats, others will not have a place to sit.
  • If you are a “single” or small group, we will place you with other “singles” or small groups, so tables are full.
  • There will be hosts that will help you find your table that evening.
  • Your assigned table number for this banquet will be on your nametag.
  • If you wish to discuss your assigned seating before convocation, please email Denise Rice directly at denise.rice@lea.org. If you email or call the LEA office, it will be forwarded to Denise.

Additional Information

  • Remember, you are on your own for Friday dinner. Depending on your group size, you may wish to make reservations in advance. Suggestions for areas to visit were in the previous blog: Things I Wish I Knew Before the Convocation
  • Covid Safety is being addressed during the convocation. The Wisconsin Center has invested in new cleaning supplies and tools, developed new standards for staff health and safety, and is prepared to help LEA execute the convocation in a safe, sanitized facility.
  • Finally, please remember, In case of a medical emergency, call 911. For family or personal emergencies only, LEA staff can be contacted at 314-580-1417

WOW, so much information! Hopefully, it addressed the questions you have. Next week, we will address What I Wish I Knew After the Convocation is Over.
