What’s Love Got to Do with It? Everything!
You may think Valentine’s Day is over, but it’s not!
Tina Turner once famously sang, “What’s Love Got to Do with It?” (cue the music…) – a question that might seem out of place in the context of Lutheran education. But for those of us dedicated to the ministry of Lutheran schools, the answer is simple: Love has everything to do with it!
At the heart of Lutheran education is the boundless love of Christ. This love is not just an abstract concept; it is something we live out daily in our classrooms, hallways, and interactions with families. We are called to reflect the love of God, demonstrating patience, kindness, and grace to every student who walks through our doors. Whether we are teaching math, reading Scripture, or navigating the challenges of a difficult day, love is at the center of our ministry, and don’t let it slip away from you – hold it tightly!
In 1 John 4:19, we are reminded, “We love because He first loved us.” This divine love fuels our mission, shaping how we educate, discipline, and nurture the students entrusted to our care. It is through this love that students come to understand their value in Christ and develop a faith that guides them beyond the classroom.
Beyond academics, Lutheran schools serve as a place where families experience God’s love in action. Whether through compassionate support in times of struggle, the joy of community events, or the daily kindness of teachers and staff, Lutheran schools are a testament to the transformative power of Christ’s love.
In today’s world, where division, hardship, and uncertainty seem more prevalent than ever, the importance of love and care for others is even more necessary. By embodying Christ’s love, we provide a safe and nurturing environment where students and families feel valued and supported. Our schools are beacons of hope, demonstrating that love is not just a word but an active force for good.
So, what’s love got to do with it? Everything! Love is not just an emotion—it is the foundation of our calling as Lutheran educators. Through our words, actions, and unwavering commitment to sharing the Gospel, we help shape young hearts and minds, ensuring that the love of Christ is not only taught but truly lived. Lutheran schools make a difference – they always have and always will!
So, as February 14th becomes a date that’s passed on the calendar, don’t let it be removed from your heart or mind. Wake each morning knowing that God’s love is present, free, and in abundance for everyone. Wake each morning with an eagerness to share God’s love!
